It was just another warm evening at a HDB flat in
Hantu Rd. Sixty two year old Ah Heng sat on a stool
reading the evening news in front of his dirty
electric fan trying to keep cool. The Singapore
weather had been too warm lately. It was just no use
taking a shower in this country. No matter how much he
scrubbed and bathed, he would stink again after
stepping out of the shower. It was just a waste of
time.
Scratching his armpits, he propped up one hairy leg on
another stool next to him and granted in disgust. Tsk!
The stupid 4D results had failed to meet his
expectations again. He tossed the papers aside and
stared out of his window. The pretty lady downstairs
was no where to be seen in her kitchen. He sighed and
brushed away his lecherous thoughts. Maybe he should
make himself a cup of milo. Then something caught his
attention.
It was his neighbour's window. Well, ex-neighbour
actually. There was a dim light shining from the
kitchen window which was just directly opposite his.
It couldn't be. Mr Tan had passed away 7 months ago.
The flat had been vacant ever since.
He leaned out of his window and squinted hard. A
ghostly figure seems to be moving around the kitchen.
It was a man. His skin was so pale and oh my gosh! He
bore a striking resemblance to the dead Mr Tan! Ah
Heng's pulse begin to race. He frozed. The figured
glared at him. Ah Heng recoiled. It then retreated
back into the hall. Was that a ghost he had just seen?
He reached for the phone but hesitated. Who should he
call? At once Ah Heng felt like he was getting a heart
attack. He gasped and choked clutching his chest. The
next thing he knew, he blacked out.
What will happen to Ah Heng? Who or what is that
ghostly figure doing in the dead Mr Tan's flat? Tune
in to find out in my next blog. Akang datang at a
computer near you...
NB: Akang Datang means coming soon.
