Part 2

Ah Heng opened his eyes to find himself staring at his son.

"Pa," said Derick. "Are you okay? I had found you on the floor when I got in this morning. You didn't answer when I knocked. Luckily I have a spare set of keys."

Ah Heng stared at his son in a daze. He was lying on his sofa staring up at his son.

"I er..." Ah Heng didn't know where to begin. "I must have fainted."

"I think its time for you to come and live with us. You've been alone in this flat for too long. What if something were to happen to you? The neighbours may not be able to help you."

Upon hearing the word 'neighbours', Ah Heng jumped up and ran to the kitchen window. Mr Tan's kitchen didn't show any signs of it being occupied. Perhaps what he saw last night was just his imagination.

"No son, I would never want to bother you and your wife." he replied still staring out of the window.

"Pa, its ok-- what are you looking at?" asked his curious son.

"Nothing." Ah Heng replied nervously. He could not afford to tell his son what he had seen last ngith for Derick might think he was insane or something.

Sighing, Derick got up. "I'm leaving now. I hope you change your mind someday."

The door clicked shut and his flat was once again quiet. Then something happened which Mr Tan could not believe his imagination. He thought he had seen a shadow move in the abandoned kitchen!

Ah Heng sqinted and stared. The shadow was no where to be seen. Was he going crazy?
